Sleepless Nights Elizabeth Hardwick's slim novel, Sleepless Nights has been with me through many moves, many upheavals. I have given it as a gift three times and purposely left another copy in a New York hotel room.
She reached a great age, with high repute for her critical writings, but I guess I just think every young [or beginning] writer ought to read 2 or 3 books for sure:
Coming Through Slaughter, Michael Ondaatje
Sleepless Nights, Elizabeth Hardwick
By Grand Central Station I Sat Down and Wept, Elizabeth Smart
listening to Cheb Khaled: My Beloved
